Saponified Olive Oil, Goat Milk

Learn what 'Saponified' means in our FAQ below

Our Story

It started with food.

We cut seed oils from our diets — and felt the difference. But when we checked our soap? The same industrial oils were hiding there too.

So we made Sown Free with zero seed oils, guaranteed. All made in the USA.

No seed oils. No shortcuts. Just better skin.

FAQ

What is saponified olive oil?

Saponification is the natural chemical reaction that happens when oil meets an alkali — in this case, olive oil and lye. The lye is fully consumed in the reaction, leaving behind pure soap. It’s how real soap has been made for centuries — no detergents, no additives, just oil transformed into cleanser.

How can olive oil and goat’s milk actually clean me?

Once saponified, olive oil binds to dirt, oil, and sweat so they can be rinsed away. Goat’s milk contains lactic acid and moisturizing fats that gently exfoliate and soften the skin. Together, they cleanse and care — without harsh additives.

Why don’t you use seed oils?

Seed oils are high in linoleic acid, prone to oxidation, and common in ultra-processed products — including most soaps. We don’t eat them, and we don’t want them on our skin either. Skin absorbs what we put on it, and we use soap every day. That makes ingredients just as important in skincare as they are in food. Sown Free is 100% seed-oil-free, always.

Where is it made?

Sourced and made in the USA. Now and forever.

Is it scented? Will it irritate me?

We offer both unscented and scented bars. Our scented versions use only essential oils — never synthetic fragrances or masking agents. It’s clean, subtle, and intentional.

What is the bar like?

It’s softer than most conventional bars because it’s free from hardening chemicals and unnecessary stabilizers. In warmer temps, it may become slightly pliable — that’s the sign of a truly minimal formula. Store it dry between uses and it will last beautifully.

Will it dry out my skin?

No. Unlike soaps made with harsh detergents or overly alkaline formulas, Sown Free cleanses gently and leaves your skin feeling balanced — never stripped or tight.

Can I use it on my face?

Yes — many customers use it as a face and body bar. Its simplicity and gentle lather make it suitable for all-over use.

I have allergies — is this bar safe for me?

We list every single ingredient on our label — no hidden fragrance blends, no “proprietary” formulas. If it’s in the bar, it’s on the label. That’s our promise, and it’s why ingredient-aware customers trust us.
